Choosing Counseling
Many people struggle with the idea of getting counseling help. It’s hard to consider baring your soul to a stranger, and it’s hard to admit that you need some help.
Counselors today are trained professionals who partner with their clients to resolve the issues that are keeping them from being their best selves. We don’t consider ourselves to be all-knowing experts handing out advice, and we don’t ‘fix’ people–you’re not a broken appliance. We partner with you to help you find your own solutions.
We give you a safe space where you can experience being the valued person you are, and where you can work on you without the distraction of all of your day-to-day stressors. We provide another perspective on the issues that you struggle with, and we can utilize techniques that help you find and resolve the barriers that are holding you back. We can also teach helpful skills for managing daily stressors.
Choosing to get counseling is an investment in yourself. It’s a statement of hope and a sign of strength and resilience. Far from being a sign that you are mentally ill, it’s a sign of mental health.
About Me
I earned my Bachelors in Integrated Studies from the University of Arkansas, with a focus on psychology, sociology, and social work, and my Masters in Counseling from the University of Arkansas. I am licensed by the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Counseling and Marriage and Family Counseling. I chose my undergraduate degree because I believe we not only become who we are because of the personal relationships that we have throughout life, but also because we are impacted by the larger forces that work around us to shape our experiences.
